Jim Catusi - never forgotten

This week our dear old friend James Catusi died. He was the just the most friendly nicest, thoughtful man you could ever image. Those of you you had the privilege of meeting him and knowing him know. Despite his own physical problems and situation, whenever he’d call or we would meet and talk, his concern was always about us and how we were doing.

Some of you will remember him from Sesame Street 1969 when he was Jim in the duo “Buddy and Jim”

Thanks for everything my friend.

The Engelbart Mural

“Featured at the 40th anniversary celebrations of Douglas C. Engelbart’s “Mother of All Demos”, this 4-foot by 27-foot mural traces the evolution of culture and technology from 1925 to present, from the perspective of the life of Doug Engelbart, inventor of the computer mouse and other technological breakthroughs that changed the world.” The Engelbart Mural.

This is an excellent timeline for new media history courses. Note to self - find the buck 25 so we can have one of the nice prints at school.

pedagogy of the oppressed - wordle

I’ve been reading Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paolo Freire. His work is fenomenal and striking current in urban education in the US today. Wonder if the school chancellors have read Freire?
